A Big Welcome to all students from Academic Support!

The following information is provided in addition to the University’s privacy and transparency statement for students, and covers certain features provided through the site.

As part of UAL’s systems, Academic Support Online collects the following information: Student ID
Name
Email Address (UAL)
Course
College
Level of study
Year of study
IP Address
Location (City)
Operating System
Browser
Screen Resolution

Your information is uploaded to Academic Support Online from an extract provided by the University’s student identification system (the UAL login system). Separate technical information such as your IP address is collected by the Google analytics platform. Academic Support Online is hosted on a dedicated server hosted by UAL IT Services.

We will use what you write on the tutorial forms to arrange any support you require in your tutorial. Please add comments to help your Academic Support (AS) tutor get a sense of what might be helpful for you in advance of the session.

Anonymised data will be used to report on AS usage patterns for the Library and Support Services department and the University’s Central Planning Unit. You will not be identifiable form this information.

What you write will be accessible to staff working in Academic Support only. It will not be shared with any member of your Course team unless you specifically request that we do so. If you would like us to liaise with a course tutor, please email your College Academic Support Administrator. Students cannot access each other’s data.

The data will be held in the Academic Support Online database. This is held on University servers and access is limited through permission settings. All members of staff are contracted through the University and are therefore bound by the contract terms, including commitments to protect student and staff data, in accordance with the Data Protection Act – see University guidance on privacy. Your tutorial notes remain available to you on the site until the end of the academic year.

Information may be retained for up to three academic years so that patterns of student demand for tutorials can be analysed.
